Pfizer official Albert Bourla was not arrested
Websites that claim to have "media closures" are almost always selling fake news.
Claim
Pfizer's chief executive officer, Albert Bourla, was arrested for fraud in November 2021.
Origin
On Nov. 5, 2021, rumors began circulating on social media that Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla had been arrested for fraud:
This was not true. Bourla was not arrested by the FBI on Nov. 5, 2021.
The rumors appear to have come from an article published on the ConservativeBeaver.com website. The article said that not only was Bourla arrested, but police had ordered the "media shutdown" of his arrest. Website writes:
Pfizer chief executive Albert Bourla was arrested at his home in a affluent area of Scarsdale, New York on Friday morning by the FBI and charged with multiple counts of fraud. Bourla has been arrested pending a bail application. Federal agents are in the process of making a search warrant for his home and many other places he owns across the country ...
Police ordered the shutdown of the media, which was immediately approved by the judge. Conservative Beaver is based in Canada, and is not subject to U.S. law.
This is not a real news story. The Conservative Beaver publishes a combination of news commentary and conspiracy theories. For example, it previously published a false story claiming that actor Alec Baldwin was arrested on a charge of child pornography. This is a lie.
Interestingly, the Conservative Beaver published these lies about Bourla's arrest on the day Bourla made his television appearance several times. On Nov. 5, Bourla appeared on CNN to talk about a new pill Pfizer had made to fight COVID-19, something that would have been hard to do if he had been arrested for fraud.
Unwanted news websites often claim that there has been a "media shutdown" in an attempt to explain why their fictional stories are not available in mainstream newspapers. The reason the mainstream media did not cover the story, however, is because the CEO of Pfizer was not arrested for fraud.
